StreetHub launches the first app to offer shoppers instant access to products from over 300 of London’s best boutiques, via click and collect or 90-minute delivery…
On Friday, StreetHub has launched its unique iPhone app, offering savvy shoppers a handpicked selection of items chosen from across the very best of London’s independent boutiques. Purchases made through the app receive a 10% discount and are available instantly to either ‘Click & Collect‘ or for delivery in as little as 90 minutes. The app is the first retail app on the market to offer such a speedy delivery service and is now available to be downloaded from the App Store here.
With over 300 of the best independent boutiques across the Capital, and a combined catalogue of over 10,000 products, the app enables busy Londoners to discover and purchase unique items at the click of a button. The app takes the user’s location and presents a curated list of retailers and products that are nearby. From handmade jewellery to homewares, high-end fashion and lifestyle products, the app allows consumers to explore local shops and boutiques from the comfort of their home or office, or on-the-go. A Twitter-style newsfeed ensures users are kept up to date on the latest trends whilst highlighting particular pieces in their immediate area.
Launched in November 2013 with backing from Index Ventures (Farfetch, Net-a-Porter, ASOS), and Octopus Investments (YPlan, SwiftKey and Zoopla), StreetHub is designed to bridge the gap between the online and offline retail worlds, enabling more customers to discover original items in boutiques and shops in their local area and supporting London’s independent shops by increasing their exposure and driving footfall.
“Small independent shops are great places to find unusual and special items. But sometimes people just don’t know what’s around them – especially in a world where big chains are taking over the high street. StreetHub is great because it brings together shops in different communities, meaning that shoppers can find inspiration wherever they are – at home or work, whilst supporting local businesses”, John Newton, Manager of Volte Face, Great Ormond Street.
“Many see the digital age as the beginning of the end for small independent retailers. The launch of our app at the start of the inaugural London Technology Week makes shopping and browsing in London’s boutiques easier and more accessible and is the natural next step for our business. Following significant investment in December 2013, we have been able to develop and launch this app and partner with Shutl for same day delivery. We’re proud and excited to be using our technology to ensure that these great shops do not get left on the sidelines. We help you discover the things you love near you”, states Mandeep Singh, Co-Founder of StreetHub.
