5 Ways to Promote Your New Business

So you’ve decided on a name for your business, you know the branding and image you are going for and are ready to get up and running. But what is the best way to get your message out there and start attracting customers? Advertising can be one of the costliest parts of your business but is essential in order to stand out in a competitive market. Here are five of the most effective ways that you could promote yourself:

Leaflets: This is one of the most popular forms of advertising. With a bit of creativity and some smart design software you can produce some high quality leaflets for an affordable price using your home printer. Of course, that can mean getting through quite a bit of printer ink or toner. Toner Giant provides excellent value on toner cartridges and ink with free delivery to help your money go further.

Press: The local newspaper is still a good choice to advertise your business. It also gives you the option to advertise via their online edition to reach even more people. Prices don’t tend to be cheap but the distribution area can reach thousands of people in a short space of time.

Social media: Facebook advertising is another good avenue to go down. It’s free to create a business page and if you’re looking to reach a wider audience it’s quite easy to set up a Facebook ad. This incurs a cost but can be very good value for money. You can target your advert to market people within a certain area with particular interests, likes and within a set age bracket. You can also set a budget for the ad so that you are only charged for the number of ‘clicks’ or response your advert receives. Twitter is also a popular and free way to get your message out there, along with Instagram. Google AdWords can help promote your business online but beware of any independent companies who contact you saying they can help you get to the number one listing on Google. These are not always to be trusted and will charge you a hefty fee.

Radio: Choosing radio is one of the more expensive forms of advertising but effective in reaching a potentially huge audience and is still cheaper than advertising on TV. Workspace.co.uk says that radio advertising could cost around £250-£1,000 per week, depending on how often the advert is broadcast and the amount of listeners. If you have a catchy advert it’s a smart way of attracting customers, especially if they hear a jingle that they just can’t get out of their head.

Merchandise: A fun way to promote your business could be by putting together branded T-shirts, pens, magnets or other merchandise. There are a variety of companies online that offer to print and manufacture these items at good value for money. You could offer the items as prizes or as a free gift when people buy a product or service from you.

Advertising is going to cost you money but if you choose the type of marketing carefully it can help to grow and grow your business.
