Tips for Travelling for Business After Lockdown
With countries across the globe gradually easing their restrictions, it’s a hopeful reminder that the world will return to some form of normalcy. Of course, this includes going back to your working routine. Travelling for business will face a lot of changes over the next few months, and the best thing you can do is be prepared as possible for your whenever your next trip takes place. So what are some things you can do to prepare yourself?
Plan Route
Social distancing measures are likely to be in place for the foreseeable future. This could mean public transport changes its services to have more routes and fewer passengers. Flights could also be less frequent than you’re used to. You need to meticulously research your routes and make sure you’ve got a way of getting to your destination with plenty of time. It won’t be like how you used to travel for work, so you may need to find a new routine for yourself. If you frequently travel to the airport, a carnet ticket can make your life easier.
Packing List
You’ll also want to think ahead in terms of what you pack. Again, this could be slightly different from what you’re used to. Sanitation rules are going to be in force and it’s a good idea to have your own sanitiser in your hand luggage. You may also need to wear a mask for travelling on a plane, but this will be confirmed in the future. It could be worth packing a change of clothes in your carry on – that way when you get off the plane you can freshen up and get yourself clean a lot quicker. If you’re feeling nervous about flying, pack distractions for yourself like a book or download interesting podcasts on your phone.
Adjust to Change
The only thing we know for certain is that things are going to change. You may need to be prepared to wait in the airport longer, pay for more for your travel insurance, or not travel as much as you used to. In fact, some businesses want to carry on reducing their carbon footprint so virtual meetings could become much more part of your new routine. Try and be flexible and adapt to whatever changes happen.
Whatever happens, you can still make travelling for business work. Be safe, be prepared, and conscious of your fellow passengers. How do you think business travel will change going forward?
