Happy employees improve all aspects of a business, read on to find out how perks can improve motivation and performance…

When it comes to running a successful business, it’s crucial to keep your employees happy and motivated, as this will improve all aspects, from staff retention to motivation.

As an employer, it’s your responsibility to ensure your staff have the right equipment to carry out their job. For example, working in an office means that you will obviously need computers or laptops, with all the programmes necessary to provide the best service you can.

However, it doesn’t end there, the extra technology you provide can help to take an office from good to great. Therefore, you should also provide employees with other office equipment, such as a copier or scanner.

If you’re tied to a strict budget, and reluctant to splash out on several devices you could purchase a multifunction model, such as this clever Lexmark printer.

This multifunction model allows you to print, scan, fax and copy all from the same device, and saves you on energy bills too!

But these days, simply providing staff the equipment needed to do their job, isn’t enough to keep them happy. With such a competitive candidate market, it can be hard to attract new talent, and keep your current staff satisfied.

To help you out, here are some solutions.

Are higher wages the answer?

A recent survey has shown that 25% of working Brits would rather receive a lower salary in return for better ‘work perks’. These corporate perks included everything from flexitime, financial bonuses, work gadgets and free food.

Another research piece states that company holidays are a new perk that is highly sought after by staff, helping towards a better work-life balance.

Perks at work, for work are also a bonus, as there is a desire for incentives to help employees get better at their jobs, including extra training and performance based bonuses.

So, how can you keep your staff happy?

Fortunately, it’s not all about offering free stuff and perks at work. Alongside these bonuses, consider if the social aspect of your office could use a boost.

Once you have got the foundations right, which includes the legal requirements, such as paid holiday and pension contributions, team bonding activities can be arranged.

It can help for you to begin offering things like an annual staff party to celebrate good work and help build relationships within the team.

Offering things such as in-work training, the latest office technologies and mentor support can be the bridge between satisfied and unsatisfied employees and give you a business you can be proud of.

As you can see, there are a lot of small changes you can make that can really add up to an improved workplace, where employees thrive.

So if your office is beginning to acquire a lack of motivation, try following these guidelines and hopefully you will see a change.
