Practical Email Marketing Tips That Will Lead to an Increase in Sales

Does email marketing still work in 2019?  As long as you know what you are doing and ensure the emails are correctly targeted, the answer is a resounding yes.  It’s actually much more beneficial than social media marketing when done correctly, with one study showing that every one dollar spent on email marketing leads to over $40 in sales.  While some business owners are still unsure of whether it’s the right move for them, we highly recommend jumping in and seeing for yourself.  Below are some easy tips that you can follow to increase sales.

Practical Email Marketing Tips That Will Lead to an Increase in Sales1. Understand Your Target Audience2. Understand Your Niche3. Send Regular Emails4. Keep Your Emails Short

1. Understand Your Target Audience

Knowing who your target audience are is key if you want your email marketing campaign to be a success.  The emails that you send need to be relevant to your audience’s interests, and be written in a style that suits them.  Think about it, you wouldn’t send the same email to an 18-year-old male teen as you would to a female retiree.  Taking a targeted approach makes a massive difference.

When creating your email list, make sure to segment each individual into a different group based on their demographic.  The trick then is to connect with each group in a way that will encourage them to buy from you.  This is much easier when you aren’t targeting your whole list with one email.

2. Understand Your Niche

It’s all good and well understanding your target audience, but you need to understand what you’re selling and the best ways about marketing it. One marketing strategy doesn’t fit all. You will find that education marketing differs greatly from trying to sell a perfume, a new food product or a car. Look into specific marketing techniques that hone in on your niche and help you stand apart in your unique field.

3. Send Regular Emails

No-one wants to be labelled as a spammer, but for many business owners, this fear is irrational.  People joined your email list because they want to hear what you have to say, so don’t hesitate to take advantage of this fact.  Sending out one email a day will lead to the biggest boost in sales.  Most people check their email daily, and if your emails are legitimate and enticing to open, you may as well take advantage of this.

You can automate your marketing emails to make your life easier.  Most email marketing services providers will include automation tools, allowing you for example to send promotional emails on your targets’ birthdays, following registration, and at other times pre-determined by you.  You can also preview and test your emails before you send them, ensuring the messages and triggers you want to send work as intended.

4. Keep Your Emails Short

Finally, it’s a good idea to keep your emails short.  People are busy and they don’t have time to read 1000 words of text when they open their emails.  In order to keep the attention of the reader, you want to make your emails clear and concise; you want them to instantly see the message of your email and act upon it.

If you do need to share more information than what you can include in a short email, include a link to your website and add the information there.  You can also break the text up using bullet points if you need to.  Don’t add more than one call-to-action either as you won’t receive as good results.  You should only be nudging your readers to do one thing per email you send.

Email marketing really is as simple as it sounds.  Give it a try; you won’t be disappointed!
