The People Who Keep Showing Up To Life Always Get The Furthest

If you think you need to be special or extraordinary to go far in life, then think again. The majority of success comes from just showing up. If you keep plugging away at something for 20 years, something beautiful will eventually come out of it, provided you don’t live your life in a destructive or dangerous way.

What Showing Up Means

Showing up means engaging with your life daily, making sure that you do the things that you know you need to do to ensure that your future is a good place to be. In the world of work, showing up means turning up when your boss asks you to, getting on with the job, and then doing the same thing, day after day, for years on end.

In relationships, showing up means constantly interacting with your partner or other people in your life. It means nurturing them so that they can do better.

Showing also means living in the present moment. It’s not about worrying about the future or focusing on the past. It’s about doing what needs to be done in the here and now. It’s taking small steps so that the big leaps can take care of themselves.

Focusing On The Process

Many people want the outcome of their efforts to emerge immediately. However, it is the process that is the most important. As a human being, you’re not under any specific obligation to achieve any specific goal. Instead, all you need to do is what you can every day, to improve your life.

You’ll notice that with consistent discipline (and a love for what you do), your performance will improve. When you focus on the task at hand, not the outcome you want, it actually becomes easier to achieve your goal. Just focusing on what you are saying in a sales pitch is far easier than demanding that you make 30 sales in a week.

You Quickly Move On From Setbacks

Many employees go to workers compensation claim lawyers at some point in their career, thanks to an injury or some other issue. However, the most successful don’t dwell on what’s happened. They get justice and then they move on.

Just showing up is a part of getting through problems in your working life. Even if something is going dreadfully wrong at work, just turning up and accepting whatever the day has in store for you is a great way to proceed. Ultimately, things going wrong doesn’t matter. If there are disasters at work, you’re incompetent and you get fired, you can always find something better (and probably easier) elsewhere.

You Create More Opportunities

Showing up is 80 percent of the battle. If you can get out of bed every day and go to work, you’re putting yourself in a position where you can take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves. If you don’t, you’ll miss big days in your career when everything changes and you land the job that you want. Simply showing up is a step in itself.
